Mid 19th century French Noonday Cannon Sundial
comprising miniature bronze cannon on circular marble base
and incorporating calibrated magnifying glass. 

This extremely rare type of sundial, having been primed with gunpowder,
is designed to fire at midday as a result of the magnifying glass
 focusing the sun's rays on the fuse
